Breakfast buffet was exceptional! And the Mexican dishes were delicious as well! Staff was super friendly and offered tequila tastings! It was a wonderful brunch....DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS GEM! We will be back!
Amazing food, this has now become my favorite Mexican restaurant. Atmosphere is great with lively music, decorations are a great touch. Service was phenomenal, some of the loveliest people I've met! Will recommend to anyone wanting closer to authentic tasting Mexican food. Planning on taking anyone and everyone.
This family owned/operated restaurant is fantastic. Everyone working here is pleasant and smiling. Blanca gave me some great information regarding Copal, the tree, and Copal, the restaurant. She took time to explain the various beverages (mezcal, in particular) and answer my questions. The salsa is incredible! Everything I tasted was also incredible. As is my pattern, I had a relleno dinner that came with beans and rice. The food is very attractively presented, in addition to being delicious. I can’t wait to go back!!! Second trip to Copal is in the books. I had a relleno again. Yum! The others had a chimichanga. Everyone loved their food, again. Their salsa is great. I tried mezcal. (3 of them.) not a flavor I like. I do think Copal has risen to the top of my list for Mexican food. Highly recommend.
It’s like eating at a South Omaha restaurant, but you don’t have to drive as far, haha! The food is definitely more authentic Mexican than other West Omaha restaurants. We loved the shrimp quesadilla, beef burrito, chimichanga, and chicken tinga sopes. Our toddler enjoyed the mac and cheese off the kids menu, but the other options look even better if your kid is in the mood for that. Authentic atmosphere and friendly service too!
I know Omaha Restaurant Week has come and gone, but I've finally found the time to drop a review!
I've been to Copal several times, and have always had a pleasant experience. The atmosphere isn't quite "warm and inviting", but you don't really expect it to be either. My ONLY complaint, is that it's hard to snap good quality photos when you're being blasted by neon colored lights LOL.
To start things off - the spicy cheese dip is incredible. It has the perfect balance of spices, and like the menu states, it's "not so spicy".
I chose the Cochinta Pibil Panucho and my partner snagged the Birria tacos.
I will say, the first bite I took of my Cochinta must have had a whole spoonful of "mayan seeds" or maybe an entire pepper because I ALMOST DIED. Luckily, the spice came down quite a bit as I continued to eat through it, I was worried there for a second!
The start of the show though, the true MVP, and the dish I will forever order when I return, is the Stuffed Churros. The tequila ice cream was cool and refreshing, and the "white creamy sauce" was incredible. Do yourself a favor and don't leave without ordering this.
Can't wait to go back!
Ate there tonight. Food was delicious, Atmosphere was welcoming, but FAR BEYOND the best part of the evening was the service. Ana, our server, was an absolute treat. She was so kind and courteous, a delight to speak to, and she was so present. We adored her. She made the night! Highly recommend if you love tasty Mexican food and GREAT SERVICE.
I wanted a good margarita and decided to stop in since they were close by. I was solo so sat at the bar and Antonio was amazing from start to finish along with the hostess who escorted me there. My spicy margaritas were on point (I ordered two) and my Birria tacos where larger than expected, flavorful and just what I needed. I was not a fan of the beef broth/sauce that accompanied it, mainly because I am use to a more heavier sauce, but I dipped my tacos and kept it moving. I will be back since I heard about happy hour all day Sunday and a Mariachi band between 12-2 pm. I will be back, service and staff are 10/10 for sure.
This was my first time visiting the Copal Omaha location, I have eaten at the Lincoln location plenty. The Omaha experience was excellent. Copal continues to keep up with its incredible atmosphere, authentic and delicious cuisine, along with being a good value. I'm obsessed with their chips and salsa. Definitely considered ordering some of the house salsa to go for my fridge. For dinner I had the cochinita pibil tacos and the patron margarita. Both were delicious. Cannot wait to come back and try more of their menu options. I love the Copal restaurants. Rebeca, the owner, is doing it right 👌
